How ProX produces titanium sheets?

2025-04-07

Titanium sheet is the core product of ProX metal, which mainly produces cold rolled and hot rolled Titanium Alloy Sheet, pure titanium sheet. The common thickness is 3-10mm. So how is titanium plate produced?

The billets are rolled, annealed, surface treated and other key steps to produce titanium plates that meet the requirements such as pure and alloy titanium plate/sheet. More specific processing details are as follows.

Material Preparation

1. Select high quality Titanium Billet, such as ingot or block, as required by the customer.

2. Pre-treat the titanium material, including grinding to remove surface oxides, impurities and contaminants, etc., to ensure that the billet does not contain other substances.

Heating

1. Place the titanium material in a vacuum furnace or a furnace with protective gas.

2. Control the heating temperature and time so that the titanium material reaches the proper heating state, (about 990°C).

Rolling

1. Roll the heated titanium material in a hot rolling mill, and finally roll the titanium material in a cold rolling mill for better control of accuracy.

2. Through a combination of rolling and annealing, the thickness of the titanium sheet is gradually reduced to achieve the size and thickness of the sheet required by the customer.

Annealing
1. Place the rolled titanium sheet into the annealing furnace.
2. Control the annealing temperature and time to achieve the proper grain size and mechanical properties of the titanium sheet.

 Cutting and trimming
1. Cuts titanium sheet to desired size using cutting equipment (e.g., shears).
2. Use machining processes (e.g. milling, grinding) to trim the edges of the titanium sheet to achieve the required flatness and smoothness.

Surface treatment
1. Cleaning: Clean the titanium plate to remove surface impurities and contaminants.
2. Acid etching: Use appropriate acid solution to acid etch the titanium plate to remove oxidised layer and surface contaminants.
3. Polishing: Treat the surface of the titanium plate using mechanical polishing methods to improve the surface finish.

Final Treatment
1. Surface coating: according to the need for titanium plate surface coating, such as anodising, electroplating, etc.
2. Redaction processing: further processing of titanium plate according to application requirements, such as drilling, cutting, processing according to drawings, etc.
